Robin Breuner
An author on a mission to heal from the past and bring you along on the journey.
Welcome to the StepStories podcast. I’m not a therapist or a psychiatrist treating people who’re coping with living inside blended families. What I am is a person who’s lived it. Not once, but twice. My experience as a stepdaughter as a child, as a teenager, and as a young adult has had a profound effect on my entire life. It’s affected my decisions as a wife and as a mother. It’s affected me as a person empathizing with others struggling with similar issues.
I created StepStories because I’ve always wished my stepmothers would have had a resource where they might have learned something from reading about or listening to the perspective of a stepchild. It might have helped to create some empathy for me and for my siblings and even possibly for their own children. It might have also helped me develop more empathy for my stepmothers if I could have read or heard stories from the viewpoints of other stepparents about their struggles.
As I’ve gotten older, my perspective has widened, and I can see more of the many sides of these complicated dynamics. I want to share stories from many different angles in hopes that it might bring healing to those who have never voiced their challenges, to bring affirmations, relatability, and hopefully positive ideas to make things better for those listening.
Each week you’ll hear stories about families who’ve figured out how to do things well and families who have not. Of course, each family is unique, and its circumstances are unique. Some families come together due to divorce, some due to a death, and some due to other situations. You’ll hear stories from stepmothers, stepfathers, stepsiblings, and stepchildren, both young and old. I invite you to contact me here on my web site if you have a story you’d like to share.
Subscribe and follow wherever you get your podcasts and please tune in each week to hear me, talk to people with StepStories, sharing the good, the bad and the truth of life in blended families.
